There are several verses on the resurrection of Jesus.  This artwork looks at the cross in the past, knowing that Jesus defeated sin and the grave.

It was promised four thousand years prior in Genesis as it says, “he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel. (3:15b).”

Christ put Satan to shame through His death and resurrection!

Was an Act of Worship

The Passion of Jesus was in obedience to the will of His Father.  In the obedience was His worship.  It certainly did not look glorious, but through His obedience, Jesus glorified His Father.

The act of worship does not just consist of the corporate worship on a Sunday.  The lifting of the hands and songs to God is beautiful and glorious when it’s done as a response to who He is.   Yet, most of the time, worship does not look or feel glorious or religious.

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” Matthew 7:21

“…casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” -1 Peter 5:7

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” -John 3:16

In John 3:16, I think a better word for ‘love’ is care (as love is has many meanings in our day).  Being caring has a specific tone that the word love does not carry.  Christ died because His Father cared.  God cares for people because He gave His son. The caring nature of God is critical to understand as it directly affects to how a person relates with God.

Deeds are Seeds

And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her Seed;
He shall bruise your head,
And you shall bruise His heel.” – Gen 3:15

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven,” -Matt 5:16

“Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.” -John 12:24

One of the most profound deeds of Christ was His death.  It was agonizing for Him, bruising His heel on the Cross, but He was faithful, glorifying His Father.  Due to this incredible-amazing deed, many are being saved, producing much grain!

“He answered and said, “Whether He is a sinner or not I do not know. One thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see.”- John 9:25

John 9:25 is one of the most perfect testimonies given about the authority of God.  Jesus heals him on the Sabbath, and the Paraphrases are questioning Jesus’ motives and think He’s not of God.  Yet this man, who was healed, has an undeniable testimony about the authority and healing power of Christ!

Not only did Jesus have authority to heal blindness, but opened the eyes of the centurion’s heart as he witnessed the crucifixion.  Scripture says,

“So when the centurion and those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they feared greatly, saying, “Truly this was the Son of God!””- Matt 27:54

I can also hear the centurion saying the same thing the healed blind man say, “I was blind, but now I see!”  Portraying this familiar scripture on a cross put it in a different light.  Is there any other insight you see when you look at John 9:25 again?
